Now Darth Sidious—or Emperor Palpatine; whatever name he wishes to call himself means little to me—is the one whose mind is in the dark. Looking out onto the Coruscant skyline, he and I, master and apprentice, spoke of revenge as if he knew something about it. As if he knew what it is like to be discarded and forgotten, to be broken and mangled. He is the one who knows nothing of these things. None of them do. Not Sidious, not Kenobi.

But I do. I know what it’s like to have the fire of vengeance burning deep within you, to understand that the things that have been taken from you can never be returned. The only path to satisfying your fury is balancing the scales; you must take from others what has been taken from you.
